Wholesale Newsletter January 2016

Welcome to our first ever newsletter exclusively for our valued wholesale accounts.  We hope that the school holiday season has treated you well and 2016 is keeping you busy!

This year we would like to feature those cafes / resellers that are interested in some publicity on our recently revamped website – this would include a two week spot on our home page slideshow, and a permanent profile page under Stockists / Cafes on our website.

If you are interested, please send us through a few photos of your choice, and a few paragraphs about your business.  Businesses will be profiled in the order in which expressions of interest are received so let us know asap if you are interested.

We were excited to start the year with a Bronze Medal for our Heritage Blend at the Australian International Coffee Awards (you can see a full list of winners here).

We also scooped three awards at the 2015 Golden Bean Awards - Silver for our Decaf, and Bronze medals for our Australian Bundja and Colombian San Luis (see the full list of Golden Bean winners here).

We were also proud to be a finalist in the Sunshine Coast Business Awards, hosted by the Maroochydore Chamber of Commerce.

Some of you may be award of the formation of the Sunshine Coast Coffee Roasters Guild.  The Guild is a collaboration between 6 local coffee roasters – Clandestino Roasters, Flying West Small Batch Coffee, Montville Coffee, Sunshine Coast Coffee Roastery, Pioneer Coffee Roastery and Tim Adams Speciality Coffee.

As a group we hope to champion high standards of speciality coffee on the Sunshine Coast and establish the area as a leader in the coffee industry.  We are also focused on community involvement and the promotion of local business.  The ‘launch’ of the guild was at the 2015 Real Food Festival at Maleny – guild members worked together to form a mini coffee festival, including a ‘make your own blend’ station and latte art smackdown.

Our major project for the first half of 2016 is the creation of a ‘coffee trail’ – this is a digital and paper based map of the Sunshine Coast with a guide to the local coffee roasters and the cafes that they supply.  This project has the support of major local tourism groups, including Sunshine Coast Destinations, and we are excited about the publicity opportunities this will supply for all of you.

If you have any questions about the Guild, please contact Jo for further details.  You can also like the Guild on Facebook as important updates will be posted there as well.

2015 was the second year that Pioneer has participated as a café in the Streetsmart CafeSmart Day – a day where cafes pledge $1 from every coffee sold (and encourage their customers to match them) to help fund local grassroots charities – this year part of the funds raised went to the wonderful Sunshine Coast organisation Sunny Kids.

We were very excited to win both photo of the day, and most improved fundraiser – and we had a heap of fun!  Collectively the participating cafes raised $135,612, which is amazing!

In 2016 we plan to become a roaster partner for this initiative which means we will help you participate in CafeSmart.  Let us know if you would like to join this amazing initiative!

Over the next few months we will be reviewing our wholesale account records as it may be necessary to have your account forms resubmitted.  If this is the case we will be in touch.  You can view our current account terms and conditions anytime on our website.

February is traditionally a quiet month in hospitality on the Coast - and is a perfect time to review & refresh.  If anyone is interested in some training updates, please contact us to arrange a time.
